Kishanganj Launches Family Planning Fair for World Population Day

On July 11, Kishanganj is set to spotlight family planning by rolling out a district-wide fair at Sadar Hospital, as well as at every Primary Health Centre (PHC), Community Health Centre (CHC), and Health and Wellness Centre (HWC). The day isn’t just about handing out advice—it’s about making real resources easily available. Whether you’re looking for permanent solutions like vasectomy and tubectomy, or you’re interested in temporary options such as Copper-T IUDs, contraceptive injections, or pills, everything will be on offer, and most importantly, free of cost.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajkumar Chaudhary is clear about what’s at stake. In today’s world, where population growth can quickly outpace available resources, he drives home the need for dependable family planning. He’s pushing for greater awareness and easier access, especially for young couples who are just starting to build their families.

Extending Beyond One Day: Population Stabilization Month Activities

World Population Day is part of something bigger in Kishanganj—a comprehensive ‘Population Stabilization Month.’ This isn’t a one-off event. Until July 10, health workers will be conducting a couple outreach phase, personally reaching out to families and newlyweds to talk about family planning choices and answer questions.

But it doesn’t stop there. Starting July 11, right after World Population Day, the campaign expands into a special fortnight that runs until the end of the month. During this phase, the health department is ramping up its efforts, offering expanded family planning services. The goal? To ensure every family in the district knows about their options, and doesn’t face financial or logistical hurdles.

  • Free access to both permanent and temporary contraceptive services
  • Dedicated counseling at hospitals and clinics
  • Mobile outreach by health workers in remote areas
  • Focus on raising awareness through posters, community meetings, and educational pamphlets

This initiative is part of a global push to make sure population figures don’t spiral out of control, while also giving individuals the power to decide what’s best for them. By the end of July, Kishanganj hopes to see more informed families, healthier choices, and a strong message sent about the value of reproductive health services.
